The first time I ran more than two miles without stopping, I…
realized…whoops, now I have to run back.
If I didn’t run, I would…
not be *nearly* as much fun as I am.
What is your motivation?
Plain and simple – it’s enjoyable and invigorating. It doesn’t hurt that it’s also a huge stress reliever.
Hot or cold weather runner?
HOT! Love those runs on 95 degree days. Makes me feel alive.
How often do you race
~15 races a year
Favorite gel flavor?
No thanks on gels. Cliff Shot Bloks, cherry, if I have a long run/race.
Just a half so far.
Care to run another (or a first one)?
A year ago I would have said no, but considering it in the next year or two.
If I could run with anyone, it would be?
I’m probably supposed to say Prefontaine or someone of that ilk, but to be honest I would like to run with Jimmy Pardo. He is my favorite comedian and he got into running in the past 2 years and really enjoys it. Reminds me of when I started about 4 years ago.
Rather run alone, or with a partner?
Both. I partner up once a week or so, otherwise it’s me and my music!
Race you’d like to forget?
Growl Prowl 2013. I love that race, but the weather was miserable and I didn’t dress appropriately. I spent 30 minutes after the race in my car with the heat blasting *trying* to get the blood to flow back into my fingers.
Favorite local race?
Do I have to pick just one? Marion Arts Fest, 5th Season Races 8K, Timber Trek, Springville Extreme Quarry Run.
Ever win your age group?
Listen to music when running?
Training = always; races = never.
Ever run in a costume?
That would actually require forethought!
Best part of running?
Challenging oneself and exceeding expectations. Races are especially fun because I can’t think of one race where the volunteers and fellow runners haven’t been anything but fantastic. It makes the whole experience somewhat…intoxicating.
What I do to support my running habit (occupation)?
Circuit board designer at Rockwell Collins.
