On Thursday, November 22, local runners gathered for the annual Run Turkey Run.

Details of the annual event were posted on the Corridor Running Facebook page. Runners gathered near the Franklin Middle School bringing donations for the Madge Phillips Center as part of Waypoint Services.

Corridor Running board member, Jennifer Steadman reached out to the Madge Phillips Center to learn more about the organization. Jennifer confirmed they were in need of canned meat, NOT TUNA. They could always use canned food, cleaning supplies, baby powder,  and diapers.

She also learned they help 7 counties with 3000 victims of domestic abuse. Housing the homeless with a focus on moving them to permanent housing, with an additional focus on classes and programs to find jobs. They also provide child care summer camps etc.

With all these things in mind, donations were collected and runners set out to log some miles as a group. There was a route, but the distance and pace were up to each individual. Runners coming together for a great cause.

The collected donations were dropped off at the Madge Phillips Center of Waypoint Services the following week.

If you would like to support the Madge Phillips Center, they are always accepting donations. You can find more information here – https://www.waypointservices.org/get-involved/
